Dear Truman:-

Your good letter of the 2nd instant is being carefully considered. I have had a telephonic chat with both Ryan and Hargreaves and they have requested me to defer answering your letter for a few days.

I go to Chicago to-night to be gone two or three days. And after my return I am to have an evening with them for a full discussion of the matter. You know, perfectly well, how I feel about T.D. The very fact that he never has, and never will take a positive position on any subject, is one of the many reasons why I would be tempted to give him a series of continuous kicks.

However, I will write you more fully after the interview.

Colonel Hecker joins me in kindest greetings.

Very sincerely yours,
Charles L Freer
