#33 Ferry Avenue,
Detroit, Michigan,
November 16th, 1905.

Myron E. Pierce, Organizing Secretary and Consul,
American Free Art League, #50 State St.,
Boston.

Dear Sir:-

Your letter of November 2nd was duly received, and since its arrival I have been hoping to make a more satisfactory report than I am able to at the present writing.

Some of the gentlemen interested in the work in hand have been out of the city; some have been too busy to attend a meeting; and to-night I am compelled to leave town for ten days absence. After my return to Detroit a meeting will be called, and the result thereof will be duly forwarded to you.

One of the objects of the first meeting will be the discussion of a Vice-President of the League for the state of Michigan, and before recommending any one to succeed me in this office I would like a full expression from at least a dozen men who are expected to attend the first meeting.

The Executive Committee was good enough to elect me to the place, but I regret, exceedingly, my inability to act.

At the time that the first meeting was held at the University Club in New York, I was present and then said to the gentlemen, while I would be pleased to co-operate in the good work, I could not accept any office.

I have no doubt, however, that some one eminently competent can be induced to act, and when we shall have decided upon whom to suggest you will hear fully from me on the subject.

Very sincerely yours,
Charles L. Freer

P.S.
We hope to induce Mr. Charles Moore to accept the Vice Presidency.
