from my mind all further thoughts of the disagreeable features which made me so uncomfortable during my last visit. I shall, however, always remember the attractive features of the old garden and the island, generally. In reply to your inquiry concerning what disposition to make of my things at Villa Castello, I wanted everything of mine there to go with the Villa and they were included in the price of $6,200.00, so do keep them. The old clothes kindly give to some poor devil who can use them.

I should not send you a type-written letter on a matter as personal as all this, but you will appreciate the fact that after so long an absence from Detroit, and at this particular season, I have many things demanding my time.

I had sent to you a few days ago a little book with my Christmas greetings which I hope will interest you during some idle hour. The book gives discussions such as might have been enjoyed had we years ago found it possible here to have adopted your proposed plan to take a yacht, load it up with half a dozen good fellows, for a weeks symposium and have an amanuensis take down the conversations. I wonder in what direction our thoughts would have principally soared, and if to-day we would care to have them pass outside of our own little circle.

These lines will reach you in the beginning of the new year - a year in which I wish you the greatest happiness, the best of health and the realization of your highest desires.

As ever most affectionately yours,
Charles L Freer
