My dear Sir:--
Your letter of December 23rd is here and I thank you very much for your kind Holiday greetings. I am trusting that you, too, are having a full share of Christmas pleasures.
Now, concerning the Kakemono by Sotatsu: I would say that at the price asked for it - $300.00 - I should not care to purchase it. You will understand, yourself, that the original color of the Kakemono is practically gone and the only thing of interest left is the original outline ink painting of the flowers. Hence, its value is for student's only. It has no aesthetic charm because of the missing color. However, I am quite sure that I would not care to pay enough to make an offer from me attractive to you, so we will let the matter rest as it is.
I quite understand how busy you have been and how little time you have had for making the translation of the Minegawa Book. Whenever you have nothing more pressing I would be glad to have you take up the translation, but please do not let it interfere with more important things.
Very sincerely yours,
Charles L. Freer
