Dear Stanford:--
Thanks for your note of the 22nd instant enclosing a copy of Thayer's postal card. When I was with him on Thanksgiving Day I saw the picture which seemed to me nearly finished, and as he was anxious to have the frame I fancied there would be no change in the size of the canvass. However, we have only to wait until he is perfectly convinced as to the size. Thayer wished to have the frame sent to him at Monadnock so as to put the final touches on the picture after it had been placed in the frame.

The Springs mentioned by you are those at Mt. Clemens, a small town about eighteen miles north-east of Detroit, which is reached every half hour by trolley cars leaving Detroit. The place has been quite famous for its baths for some years but more especially outside of Detroit. In fact, I think the largest number of its patrons come from New York. I have visited the place once only and that was some years ago, so I have little personal knowledge about it. As requested, I sent you, under separate cover, a little pamphlet descriptive of the place.

I am sorry that your Sciatica is severe enough to require treatment, and if you decide to visit Mt. Clemens let
