Dear Mr. Freer,
     I am glad to infer from your note that the conditions of your brother's son has improved.
     For myself, I am sorry to say that my cold is somewhat worse. Last night I waited for Prof. Richards of Columbia, with whom I was to dine at the Arts Club, in rain, till 7.30; and then was so chilled in the half-heated room that I went away. I had to fight a threatening bronchitis all night;
