Chicago Aug. 5th, 1904

Dear Mr. Freer, 

I have decided, to save time and expenses, to go directly home to Mobile from here, this afternoon, instead of later by the round about route via New York. 

Yesterday I expressed to you the remaining proofs of the photos, with directions for Mr. Gault upon the back. I suppose that he may already have begun his work upon the slides. I am expecting great things from them. 

My lectures at the University here have proved such a success that a kind of furor seems to have been awakened in the city. 

It may lead to a petition, backed by subscriptions, from several hundred
