Mr. Charles L. Freer, Detroit, Mich. My dear Sir:- The Johns Hopkins University is inaugurating a course in the History of Oriental Art. Dr. David M. Robinson of the Department of Classical Archaeology is giving the course. It will deal with the art of Turkey, India, China and Japan. The course will be two hours per week for half a year. Dr. Robinson has requested me to ask you if illustrations of works in your collection are available for making lantern slides; he will greatly appreciate any assistance you may be able to give in the way of permission to use such illustrations or advice regarding other illustrations and bibliography. As your collection is to come to Washington, the study of this great subject especially through your collection, will be of great benefit to us in Baltimore. Very respectfully, Walter R. Gale Art Department, Baltimore City College.
