Dear Sir:--

Your letter of August 24th reached me Monday morning but to-day is the first opportunity I have had to give attention to the matter. In accordance with the conversation had with you in New York recently I have arranged with the State Savings Bank of this city to loan Messrs. Yamanaka & Company, thirty thousand dollars. I enclose herewith a promissory note for that amount, which you will kindly sign and return to me promptly. I have arranged with the Bank to guarantee the payment of the note and your firm should secure me in the same manner they did before. The documents which you sent to me I have shown the Bank so that they will understand the matter. You will remember that in the other instance you issued a mortgage which was retained by me, and this you may do again in the same manner. Perhaps you have the old papers; if so a duplicate of them will answer for the present, but, of course, the dates will have to be changed.

If you sign the enclosed note and return the same to me by return mail it will reach here on Saturday morning and then the check for the money can be sent you on the same day. The note should
