HOTEL BURNSWICK, New York, September 21, 1894.

Dear Mr, Hecker:-

I found at Sloan's a fine large Axminster rug for Anna's dining room. Also two smaller ones for Anna, and one for myself. The latter is marked on tag for C. L. F. The amount of the bill will be $635. At Proctor's I found three (4) rugs for Anna, the bill for which will be about $100 ($110.25). At Collamores I found a toilet set bill for which will be $60. At Davenports I purchased one rocker, $30 and one writing desk, $80, both for Watson's room. To-morrow morning I expect to receive sketches which were sent from Davenport's Boston house. If they arrive in time, I will order the bedstead, ashstand and two chairs wanted. Should they be delayed, I will have them sent direct to you in the hope that you will show them to Anna and suggest changes as she may want made.

Will you have Harry make up vouchers promptly for the above mentioned bills when they arrive.

I left Brown Bros. & Co. 300 shares Lake Shore stock, which will stand in my name and dividends thereon will go to Detroit, as heretofore. I take with me a letter of credit for $4,000 which Brosn Bros. & Co. issue against the stock. The day has been an extremely busy one, but I have things in pretty good shape for my start to-morrow. Mrs. Thompson is expected to arrive from Europe to-day and Mr. Thompson has written me that his movements for this evening are very uncertain. If he does not come to
