of god sends - I hope you know how deeply I appreciate the many expressions of regard which came so genuinely from yourself and others to me - not only at Detroit, but in New York and onboard ship -

The affection bestowed by my friends together with the regard lavished by the King resulted in a smash up of my nerves. But I have [[strikethrough]] pined [[/strikethrough]] pinned (excuse spelling) my faith to the former and have forsaken the latter and soon I hope to be myself again.
