situated 6200 ft above sea, in the midst of splendid mountains.  The temperature (about 60°) is very refreshing after the heat (about 95°) of Colombo.

I shall be in the pink of condition again in a day or two and then I start for Kandy. Later to the buried city of Anoradhpura. Beyond which I have no definite plans. Ceylon?  Well it's all very marvellous to me!  In my next letter I will try to tell you something about it.  Better still, buy a copy of the "Pearl of India" just published by Houghton Mifflin and read that.  Tell Mrs. Hecker the top of Adams Peak is encircled with great Rhododendron trees forty and more feet high loaded with superb crimson blossoms.
