I am glad that my responsibility as [[strikethrough]]an officer [[/strikethrough]] a member of a bank directory has ended. As Mr. Smillie of Lake Mohawk, said to some unruly girls when they were departing from his hotel - "It cannot happen again"!

The continued suffering of Anna is dreadful and I wish I could bundle heaps of this sunny warmth and cable it to her. The days are all bright and beautiful and the nights splendid. To night we shall "lay up" at Abu Sembel and we shall see the great statues of Ramses II (portraits of himself in full moonlight and under the 
southern cross an inspiration fit to cast off Anna's tired thoughts and I wish she were with us to enjoy the scene.  Give her my love and all high wishes.

If I can secure passage I shall sail from Suez on a N.D.L. steamer for Colombo on Jany 21st. but accommodations as yet are uncertain.
