No. 33 Ferry Avenue,
Detroit, Michigan,
October 25th., 1906.

Mr. F.B. McGuire,
Director The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.

Dear Sir:-

Your letters of October sixteenth and seventeenth were duly received. The proposed exhibition of oil paintings by living American artists appeals to me with peculiar force and I shall be glad to do what I can in the good work. It has been my practice for a long time to consult with the artists when invited to loan of their work in my care. In the present instance I have already communicated with Mr. Dewing and shall today write Messrs, Thayer and Tryon. After the receipt of their answers I will give definite reply to your request. I trust to be able to lend you the three paintings called for and may possibly decide to increase the number slightly.
