paper - the back of Frascati's restaurant announcement. It looks as if it were quickly drawn, and the drawing has the inscription of A. Lodovice. At the bottomof the mat appears #123 of London Catalogue, Page 122, etc.

Your two letters written on board the "Hamburg" of November 18th and 20th, were received yesterday morning. Too bad that the weather conditions at the start were so unfavorable, but I am pleased to know you stood the storm's buffetings well.

Stephen also received a letter you wrote him. We found the book on Kenzan by Dr Brenchman and I am mailing it to Miss. Nordlinger to-day, and advising her of the shipment thereof.

I understand your instructions concerning the cataloguing of the Yamanaka and Matsuki purchases, and had already entered them in the Smithsonian appendix. The invoice for the Yamanaka things was received some time ago, but the shipment has evidently not yet been made. I have written Mr. Ushikubu inquiring as to the shipment. No word has yet come from Messrs. M. Knoedler & Co. about the prints from the Theobald Collection. Stephen understands what to do with the prints if they are received.

Mr. Allison's office informs me that they have papers in connection with a shipment presumably made by Mr. Mayeda. The things haven't arrived yet, nor have I had any word from Mr. Mayeda since his arrival into this country. I, of course, shall not receive the cases, and presume he will communicate with me from Chicago.

Colonel Hecker will write you fully (on Saturday, I believe) about the sale of the holdings of Free Press stock to Mr. McMillan. The amount of cash realized by you from the sale, is $14,370.00. On Colonel Hecker's advice, $15,000.00 was transferred from your Commercial Account to the Savings Department, and the balance in the banks now is, as follows:-
State Savings Bank:
Savings, $15,000.00
Commercial, 8,711.00 $23,711.00

Guaranty Trust Company, 945.00

M - L - 1,217.00 $25,873.00

Stephen keeps closely about the house and grounds and reports things all right, as is the case in the office.

I trust you had a comfortable journey from Naples, and are enjoying the scenes about Cairo.

Very respectfully yours.
JM Kennedy
