much of the test equipment is in the O&C). Further testing occurs in the OPF for horizontal payloads (OIT), and on the pad for all payloads. [[highlighted]] Typically, these tests are again a subset of the Mission Sim OMI. [[/highlighted]]

Bill Jewell's Experiments Processing Division [[highlighted]] (CS-EPD) [[/highlighted]] manages all individual experiments. They interact with the Payload Center, the Principal Investigation and the CS integration decisions (CS-SHD and -MVD) during the test. [[highlighted]] They write experiment checkout OMI's (level IV tests) based upon direction from the Payload Center. not our FDF people. [[/highlighted]] Through CS-EPD we have the opportunity to see an experiment as it will fly but before it becomes part of a payload. They are also the best KSC source of information on particular experiments.

Roger Gaskin[[highlighted]]'s Spacelab/Hoirzontal Payloads Division [[/highlighted]] is responsible for integration and testing of all horizontal payloads. They use the high bay in the O&C. Building with test equipment on the floor for level IV test, and with the ACE rooms for level II/III mission and CITE test. [[highlighted]] They develop the level II/III mission sim OMI, parts of which are used in CITE and OIT, based upon their understanding of the flight procedures. [[/highlighted]] CH and CB need to review these OMI's, and to participate, where appropriate, in the level II/III tests.

Ernie Reye's [[highlighted]] Multi-Mission/Vetrical Payloads Division is responsible for integration and testing of all vertical payloads. They have 2 vertical test bays in the Vertical Processing Facility (VPF). [[highlighted]] The USAF Check-Out Station (COS) performs most level IV testing on the IUS and its payloads. [[/highlighted]] CS-MVD stacks the IUS and payload in the VPF, performs some local level IV testing and all level II/III test through ACE in the O&C. PAM and its payloads comef from the vendor already stacked and tested at level IV. Again, CS-MVD uses the VPF and ACE to test level II/III mission sim and Cite. [[highlighted]] CS-MVD writes the level II/III mission sim an CITE OMI's based upon flight procedures. [[/highlighted]] CH and CB should review these OMI's and, perhaps, observer some of these tests.

CS publishes schedules for all cargo flow through KSC. Joe and I will try to maintain a current set. All of us will have to depend upon the VITT Team/Cape Crusaders to let us know about changes in schedule, to cover for us at some of the meetings, and to help us get OMI's review. Some dates of interest are:

1/26/82 PAM/SBS STS-5 Test Plan Meeting
6/82 Spacelab level IV tests begin
3/83 Spacelab level II/III Mission Sim
6/83 Spacelab CITE
7/83 Spacelab OIT (OPF)
