Dear Mr. Barr:

It was, as you will realize, a pleasure to receive the purchase order and to know that Rico Lebrun's "Figure in Rain" has found a place in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection. Incidentally, it thus becomes the first painting to be acquired from our Contemporary American Department.

Yesterday Mr. Seligman telephoned from Paris and was as happy to hear this good news as Lebrun himself will be.

With appreciation,

Yours very sincerely,

Mrs. T.D. Parker
Contemporary American Department.
