Frederick McCormick, Esq.,
27 West 67th Street,
New York, N. Y.

My dear Mr. McCormick:-

I am glad indeed to have your good letter of January 14th in which you so heartily approve of the appointment of Mr. Backhouse on the Sub Committee. I am sure that his assistance in our work will be valuable.

Concerning the other item mentioned in your letter, that of adding as Honorary Members of the American School of Archeology in China all of the members of the China Monuments Society; I think the idea an excellent one, but before we take official action, I would like to have a copy of the contitution [[constitution]], the by-laws, if any exhist [[exist]], and a list of members of the Society. I ask for this only for the purpose of examination to see that no possible friction can result from the union if made. Will you oblige me with these details?

Owing to a slight return attack of my original illness which came to me last week, I have been confined to my house and not allowed to do much of anything during the last week, and I am not well enough now to visit New York next week, consequently, I shall be compelled to postpone my visit until early in February, when I hope to be much stronger again.

Trusting that we shall meet again as above indicated, believe me,

Sincerely yours,
