CHARLES L. FREER

Makimono by Kakei

Kakei the greatest landscape painter of Orient lived during Era of Emperor Nei-So who ruled China between 1195-1225 A.D. The Emperor paid a great honor to Kakei giving him a golden belt which was then the highest order of merit to be shown to a Royal painter by the Emperor.

When the Sung Dynasty fell in Year 1279 A.D. the treasure - the Makimono became the property of Yueng Emperors,

The Yueng dynasty ended in 1368 A.D. & [[thus?]] the treasure passed into the hand of illustrious Ming Emperors.

The Makimono was taken away from the Ming Treasure House in Cho-An, the capital of Ming Dynaasty by one of Manchiu invaders as we find the fact from the important handwriting at the End of the Makimono by Bun-Yu the son of the invader.
