been commenced, that at Point Pleasant.  I have not succeeded in getting any regular reports of schools in the Valley, and the work of education is not progressing as fast or as well as expected.  MR. Sharpe has evidently many difficulties to overcome.

Nothing has been heard from Greenbrier Co. West Va. 
Rev. S.E. Colburn reports that nothing is being done toward the erection of a house at Parkersburg:  says he supposes the trustees are waiting for the colored people to raise $300.00 which they are not able to do now.
None of the houses being erected in Capt. Brubaker's District are yet completed. 
I have asked Maj. VanDerlip to arrange for the starting of schools in Calvert Co. Md. immediately without waiting to plaster houses.
I find great difficulty in getting good teachers, or Societies to pay them for teaching in the Country Districts.
I have with A.K. Brown Esq. visited portions of Prince George Co. Md. At Upper Marlboro, they have a large house partly done.  They tried to build too large,and have been very slow in the work.  We have given them more lumber.  At Nottingham, nothing had been done.  I told them they
