Dear Mr. Freer.

Your telegram I found on arrival. This afternoon Mr. Platt, Mr. Walcott and I saw two sites which seemed to satisfy the conditions. The first was the site of the present Fisheries Building on the south side of the Mall, directly opposite the old side of the Pennsylvania station. The other, and better, one was the space in the south-west corner of the block in which the Smithsonian building stands. Mr. Platt liked the latter site best, and thinks it will give him plenty of
