German Government; and has been acting as its agent, in searching for various kinds of Oriemtal Art. Upon his return to Germany, he will take charge of the Museum at Kiel; and I am very anxious that you two shall meet. He goes to Boston to-day, where he expects to spedn considerable time in studying the Oriental collections in Boston Museum. Later, he will visit New York; and After his arrival there, will present a card of introduction to you, which I have given him. I know you will enjoy his acquaintance: and I suggest that you talk fully with him, concerning his wandering search after Art objects in China. 

He has quite disheartened me from following his footsteps in the interior. He claims there is little - if anything, to be found outside of Peking, and one or two other Important cities; including, of course, Hong Kong, Shanghi and Canton. I am quite sure that both yourself and Mrs Fenellosa will also enjoy meeting Mrs. Fischer. She knows considerable about Oriental Art; and has a wonderful memory of important things seen - both in China and Japan. 

I was busy during the two days spent in New York; and regret lack of opportunity to have seen you - even if for a few moments only. I had a pleasant half-hour with Mr. Ushikubo
