Dear Mr. Johnson: -

I am in receipt of a letter from Miss Rosalind Birnie-Philip, authorizing me to give her permission for the reproduction of the portrait by Whistler, in both editions of your Magazine, provided you are willing to submit to [[illegible]] the text of the article which is to accompany the illustration.

Miss Birnie-Philip naturally feels the responsibility of her obligations to Whistler's memory; and you, I am sure, will appreciate her feelings in this matter. If you are quite willing to have me see the article, and will send it to me, by early mail, I will read - and return it, promptly.

With kindest remembrances, I remain,

Very sincerely yours,
Charles L Freer
