123 [[symbol checkmark]] Detroit, Michigan. 33 Ferry Avenue. November 29th, 1907. Dear Mr. Gellatly:- Mr. Caffin spent Wednesday with me; and - I think, enjoyed seeing the collection. I showed him the Dewings, as well as I knew how, and talked with him earnestly on the subject. I tried also, to show him their comparative importance with the finer works of the Orient. He seemed very appreciative; and now we have only to wait, and learn whether, or not, his power of expression equals the opportunity. Of course, I also showed him the Dewings owned by Colonel Hecker; and the architectural designs made by Dewing, for Colonel Hecker's den. I enjoyed very much the visit at your charming home; and congratulate you most heartily, upon the superb collection you have made. Believe me - with kindest regards, Very Sincerely, Charles L Freer John Gellatly, Esq., 34 West 57th Street, New York City. Pardon type-written letter
