Mr. August F. Jaccaci,
489 Fifth Avenue,
New York, N. Y.

My dear Mr. Jaccaci:-
Your kind letter of January 15th, enclosing the petition mentioned, is received, and both have been read with interest.

The Trustees of the New York Public Library would honor the Institution and the City of New York in commissioning Mr. John LaFarge to decorate a part of the Public Library. And I hope most earnestly, that Mr. LaFarge will be given the opportunity and that he will be spared to create another of his masterpieces for so noteworthy a place.

I have signed the petition with pleasure, and enclose the same herein.

Yours very sincerely,
Charles L Freer
