Detroit, Mich., 33 Ferry Avenue,
October 30, 1907.

Dear Mr. Trask:-

It is a real pleasure to have your kind letter of October 28th, enclosing a copy of the letter you so kindly wrote me on May 28th, 1906, advising me of my election to honorary membership in the Pennsylvania Acedemy of the Fine Arts.

The loss of the original letter is still a mystery here. In my absence, all important letters received are registered, but as we find no record of the one at issue, I conclude that it must have been lost in the mails.

The unusual honor paid me by your Board of Directors is a great surprise to me and I wish I were more worthy of the compliment conferred, and I trust that I may be fortunate enough to show my appreciation in some tangible form in the future.

The little visit received last week from yourself and Mr. Lewis was delightful. I wish your stay might have been longer. May you both come again ere long, with sufficient time at your disposal to see the collection complete.

I am writing to Mr. Coates under separate cover, addressed in your care. May I ask you to see to its safe delivery, as I do not know his private address.
