I was sorry to read that you had been attempting too much and had to let up. I hope you did go to a more genial climate & benefited very much thereby. Here we have had a glorious winter, almost continuous fine weather, blue skies & sunny days. Quite cold which I liked and vey little rain. I was much longer completing the Guide Book than I had anticipated but poor Mr. Mason cannot get over his nerve trouble and was but little use. So I did not get away until beg's of March when I went to Kobe and then on to Shanghai spending a fortnight there with friends and had a right good time. I was much disappointed at not seeing A. W. Bahr who was in Peking and couldn't get away before I left as he had expected so he did not write letter & I therefore dont know what he is doing. Peter is in Hankow & better.

The Nishi Houpwarye in Kyoto have had a sale of treasures of which most likely you will have received particulars. The famous Korin screen bought for 105,000 yen by Osaka adherents, you will no doubt know. It is illustrated in the Shimibei Shoin work "Masterpieces of Kōrin" and decoration is clumps of Iris on gold leaf ground, a perfect work and unusual as being equally painted on both sides. I have had a copy of the S. S. prints framed in my rooms in London for many years.

You will have heard of the sale by Arthur Morrison of his collection of screens & paintings to an anonymous benefactor who has presented same to British Museum. Can't you picture the intense delight of Laurence Buiyon and what a work to make a real catalogue now.

I am off with Mason on 14th via Korea & Siberia due in London May 2nd (address 3 Grays Inn Square W.C.) and I would so like to hear that there might be a chance of seeing you in England this year, With my best regards & please remember me to Miss Leitch -also to "Peter".

Yrs very sincerely
J. Orange
