Mr. J. Orange, Esq.
Manhattan Hotel, 42nd St.,
New York City

My dear Mr. Orange:

Your welcome letter of recent date begun on board the steamer and finished at your hotel in New York, reached me here yesterday, and I am delighted to know of your safe arrival in America.

A note from Mr. Bahr has also come to hand, and I wish that I could be with you both for a few hours in New York, as I would enjoy talking with you both; but the situation at present in the war zone, and my doctors will not permit.

They even object to the dictation of lengthy letters, so I must close with cordial greetings and best wishes.

Sincerely yours,
