Dear Mr. Freer:- The following letters were received in to-day's mail: No. 3. From William Macbeth, New York, No. 4. Postmarked New York, Station F, No. 5. From Yamanaka & Co., No. 6. From American Blower Co., New York, No. 7. From Mr. Donaldson, No. 8. From Modern Artists, New York, No. 9. Postmarked New York, Station H. I am just in receipt of your telegram from Washington stating that you were going to New York this afternoon. Colonel Hecker, as you doubtless know, intended leaving for St. Louis on this afternoon's train. Last evening, however, he had a telegram from his nephew requesting him to leave for East St. Louis at once. So he left by the 1:30 train this morning. your night telegram to him from Washington, therefore, came after he left. Mr. May is coming in from Mt.
