PAINTINGS TO BE GIVEN TO CITY THIS EVENING

PREPARATIONS FOR PRESENTATION ARE NOW COMPLETED.

Plans are completed for the presentation in the auditorium this evening, of the four painting which will form the nucleus of the city's art collection first public collection of real value in the upper peninsula. The paintings, all of them of value and by famous American artists, are already hung in the music room of the high school, which is especially decorated for the occasion.
The program, as noted yesterday will be short. Dr. G. P. Ritchie, president of the school board, will preside; Chase S. Osborn will tell of the paintings and their creators; Mayor Tymon will accept the gifts in behalf of thec ity, and Rep. Merlin Wiley will also speak on the significance of the gift to the city's cultural welfare. There will be several musical numbers by the high school orchestra.
Eight o'clock is the time. Provision will be made for unveiling and inspecting the painting following the program.
