Dear Sir:

Since I received your letter of the 7th of October last I have been endeavoring on favorable occasions to induce Mrs. Vallaury to accept your offer. I have even showed her your letter, to convince her of your last price on the four pieces of pottery. However after leaving the matter a while in suspense, I succeeded in getting her to move reasonable terms, and put on her own card her lowest figures which I am enclosing herewith. As you will see she wants three hundred turkish pounds for the four pieces, but she wishes that a relative of hers who is participating in this transaction to get fifty turkish pounds as commission. Now, three hundred and fifty turkish pounds equal to three hundred and eighteen pounds sterling, which is £18 more than what you wish to pay for them. Therefore I haven't closed the deal, before asking you whether the £18 would make a great
