My dear Platt:-

Your kind note of the 18th instant came duly, and I agree with you that the site originally offered with forty feet taken off of it, would make it impossible for our use, and as I am to be in New York early in February, we will discuss the matter together, after which I will talk with the Smithsonian officials about the matter. Of course, they are inclined to give us the best within their power.

Your very interesting preliminary sketch came yesterday, and I am examining it with great pleasure. I shall bring it with me to New York, when I shall have ample time to discuss the project with you.
