Mr. J. C. Pickert,
Chapinville,
Conn.

This letter is to confirm the agreement made with you in New York on Saturday last, to enter my employ, as head farmer, on April 1st, 1909. My understanding of the details, is as follows:

You are to take charge of my farm on April 1st next, or on March 1st, next, should amicable arrangements be made with Mr. Carson to leave my farm on the latter date; should he prefer to remain until April 1st, then your services are to begin at that time. Your salary is to be $50.00 per month. You are to devote your whole time to my work. You are to have the free use of a vegetable garden and the free use of one cow, now on the place; you are also to have the privilege of keeping a second cow which, I believe, you now own. All other products of the farm are to be sold and the proceeds remitted to my office in Detroit. You are to have use of the farm-house, free of rental, I reserving for my personal use, when on the farm, the two front rooms on the lower floor, or such other space as I may reserve in the addition which we contemplate building.
