33 Ferry Avenue, East,
Detroit, Michigan,
January 19th, 1909.

Messrs. Geo. W. Wheatley & Company,
23 Regent Street,
Waterloo Place,
London, England.

Mr. R. J. Brown -
Dear Sir:
I have your advice of January 9th, notifying me of the shipment of one package of pottery, consigned to the "Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C in care of the Collector of the Port at New York," and thank you for your attention to this shipment.

I notice, that you have insured this shipment which rather surprises me, as you will doubtless remember that during my call at your office in London last fall, when I arranged for further shipments, I informed you, that it was an"unbroken rule of mine not to insure shipments." Let me again repeat this fact, and you to govern yourselves accordingly in making further shipments for my account.

Messrs. Parke, Davis & Company, will doubtless transfer to you, two additional packages in the near future, for which, they will give you shipping instructions, the same as the last namely:

To the Smithsonian Institution,
Washington, D.C.
Care of the Collector of the Port at New York.

Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
