AN ACT

Authorizing and directing the Secretary of the Treasury to cancel and remit a certain income tax assessed against Charles L. Freer, of Detroit, Michigan.

1 Be it enacted by the Senate and the House of Representatives 
2 of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
3 That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed 
4 to cancel the assessment of $13,252.21, being income tax
5 on profit on the sale of Charles L. Freer, of Detroit, Michigan, 
6 in the year nineteen hundred and fifteen, of twelve
7 thousand and ninety-five shares of Parke, Davis and Company's 
8 stock, $1,000,000 of the proceeds from the sale of
9 said stock having been given to the Smithsonian Institution
10 for the erection of a building to house the art collections
11 presented to the Nation by Mr. Freer under deed of gift
12 dated May fifth, nineteen hundred and six, and the remain-
