Dr, Berthold Laufer of the Field Museum, is, as you know, much interested in our collection and is contributing splendidly toward the unraveling of knotty problems. Mr. Edmund Backhouse, the noted English-Chinese scholar is aiding not only in helping to secure specimens for the collection, but also deciding difficult problems in Chinese chirography. If agreeable to you, I think it should be highly proper to give credit to the above named experts in your forthcoming Report.

I note your reference to the bill to cancel Income Tax assessment, having passed the Senate, and when the bill shall have also passed the House of Representatives and been signed by the President, I shall write you fully of a position which I have decided to
