My dear Mr. Freer,
I find it rather difficult to write you an adequate acknowledgement. I believe, if I could see you in person it might not be quite so hard, for then my manner might indicate what I could not make plain by words. They, (words) are such a feeble medium when one wishes to make plain our real feeling. The full realization of this has made it difficult to write you & in consequence nearly a week has slipped by since the receipt of your letter. It was a real satisfaction to receive it, I refer not so much to the draft (which surely was a very wonderful article) as to the sound encouragement which you consciously or unconsciously allowed to slip in and between the lines -- It is perhaps a truth indisputable that our desire and aspirations for the pure and real wish
