Dear Thayer:

To-day, for the first time since my illness which come in May last, I have had access to papers in my private vault, and amongst others have examined the documents covering the "Winged Figure" painted by you. I find that payment of the amount due you for the picture was made, as follows:

September 21st, 1903, $3,500.00
February 27th, 1905, 1,000.00
December 9th, 1905, 1,000.00
March 3rd, 1906, 1,000.00
April 10th, 1906 1,000.00
April 7th, 1909, 2,5000.00 Total, $10,000.00, and that for the payment of $3,500.00 made September 21st, 1903, you gave me your promissory note, which I have cancelled and return to you herewith, as, of course, the note is your property and should not exist.

Very sincerely yours,

Mr. Abbott H. Thayer,
Monadnock, N. H.
