My dear Mr. Robinson:-

I am pleased to have your letter of January 20th and sincerely hope that Mr. Studd will eventually agree to lend the "Little White Girl" for your forthcoming Whistler exhibition.

After seeing you, I learned from Doctor Walcott of the National Gallery that he was intending to visit New York at the very time I had thought of going to Washington, consequently I abandoned my visit and saw Doctor Walcott in New York where we transacted our business.

If you will write to Mr. Vanderbilt, inviting him to lend the two of his Whistler's mentioned, I believe he will agree to do so. I will send him a line which may have some influence with him. He feels very kindly disposed toward Miss Birnie-Philip and I can tell him of her cooperation.

I am glad that you have fixed upon March 15th as a tentative date for the opening as the setting forward of the opening give more time for arranging details.

I believe it would be well to ask the Luxembourg to loan
