I have the honor to inform you that since making my last Monthly report of affairs in my District there has been but little change

There is now a very healthy & promising state of things The Freed labor is all under contract & doing splendidly The zeal & earnestness which they manifest in their labor is beyond all praise & better work was never rendered in times of slavery They are in the fields at daybreak & only quit work when it is the too dark to work  They feel very sanguine of a good year & show conclusively by their labor that they are determined no effort of theirs shall be wanting to make it so

Almost universally, so satisfactory is their [[strikethrough]] is their [[/strikethrough]] labor, to the Planter, they are left to the guidance
