Sir:

Your good letters of April 24 and 26th received and noted.

Was glad to learn that the Seaouke Yue photographs and descriptions of art objects have give you and Miss Rhoades, and Mrs. Meyer much pleasure in looking through them. When the objects arrive here, I shall care for them with the greatest caution. I am sure that there will be no difficulty in getting them released from the Customs. I understand the situation perfectly. The Customs officers and myself are very familiar with each other. Some day before their arrival, I will call at their offices and explain the matter. The objects will not be opened and examined except in my presence. By their former experiences, they will know that there is no duty on such objects. If there is anything that they do not quite understand, I am sure that I can explain the same to them.
I have received a letter from Mr. Tanaka, Care Yamanaka Company saying that the Japanese panels which have recently been finished were shipped on Saturday, also the old mounts and boxes of same. The two largest panels are to remain at Yamanka's until the Motonobu Landscape which was sent there last
