pieces of Pottery shipped to me August 18th, are not yet here, but I am expecting them within a few days and will advise you my estimate of the same promptly. 

I note your desire to borrow Ten thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) American Gold which to buy art objects, and in accordance with your request, I have asked the Guaranty Trust Company of New York to cable you for my account $10,000.00 American Gold, which is being sent to you as a loan from me. 

I am enclosing herein, a blank promissory note covering the $10,000.00, which I wish you would sign and return to me by registered mail. I will keep the note until your arrival next winter, and if the art objects which you bring for my inspection are satisfactory
