|   |   |   | the accusations are all true. The witnesses against him was the freedman and his wife, who swore positively to the facts. Wood's Lawyer argued that in accordance with  the State law, (under which his client was being tried) a negroes evidence was not admissible against a white person. The Magistrate decided against him - on the rendition of judgment he must have decided with him, as he rendered a judgment of acquittal. The freedmen proved positively all that was set forth in the allegation. So soon as the epidemic subsides in Houston, I shall make a requisition for a guard, have Wood arrested and send him to Houston for trial before a Military Commr. or try him myself bef a jury. |
