5. "Report the disposition and feeling of the white people towards the freed people as expressed by words and actions."

The white people in this neighborhood seem kindly disposed toward the few freed people that are among them, both in expression & actions, and nothing has occurred to which I could take exception.

EDUCATION.
6. "Report the feeling upon the subject of education; what steps have been taken to promote the same; what efforts the freed people are making in that direction and in what manner they may be assisted, &c., &c."

On the subject of Education, there have been no Expression whatever, for the reason, that there are not a sufficient number of freedchildren to form a school, consequently no steps have been taken in respect to education, and I am not aware that they (the freedpeople) are taking any steps in that direction. I do not think that their condition can at present be improved, or that they require any assistance.
