"Give a statement of the official business transacted during the month in nature and your method of disposing of the same. State your office [[for]] number of days absent from office, if any, and reason for the same."

I have entered on my docket 45 cases during the past month, nearly all of which have been acted upon in the manner heretofore reported. My office hours are from 8 1/2 o'clock A.M. till 4 1/2 P.M. and I have not been absent during the month. 

"State the number of Troops at your Post and the necessity for the [[rise]] whether or not the freed people would be secure if they were removed, or [[over]] words will the civil authorities protect them and give them justice; etc. etc."

The number of troops at this Post for duty is eighty nine and it is absolutely necessary for the security of the freedpeople that they should remain here.
