The Disposition and feeling of the Whites towards the Freedpeople is still bitter, but less is said since the election of Grant. The Freedpeople are learning how to manage their own affairs. Their children are learning at School, and the parents are learning from them at home. That together with the experience of the last three years, has greatly improved their condition

EDUCATION.
"Report the feeling upon the subject of education; what steps have been taken to promote the same; what efforts the freed people are making in that direction, and in what manner they may be assisted, &c."

No efforts are made by the white people to assist the Freedpeople upon the subject of Education either by actions or words. Not a cent has been given them to assist in the erection of a School House. A Lot was given them to build a Church upon by a Mr. R.W. Owens of this place, a Merchant who has an object in view, or he would not have been so liberal
