Messrs. Congdon & Co.,
Opposite British Head Quarters,
Sharia Kasr-El-Nil,
Cairo, Egypt.

Gentlemen:-

I am in receipt of your letter of the 20th ult. enclosing a statement of the charges for packing, cartage, freight prepaid to New York, insurance, customs fees, etc. in connection with the shipment of three cases of antiquities under instructions from Mr. Nahman to the Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C., care Collector of the Port of New York, and I take pleasure in handing you, enclosed herewith, a draft on Credit Lyonnais, Cairo, to your order for L25-3-11, in payment thereof.

I note that this shipment left Suez by S/S "Istria" via Hamburg to New York, and that the bill of lading and consular invoice were sent to the Collector of the Port of New York and that you wrote to the Director of the Smithsonian Institution, sending him the two insurance policies.

I have not yet received advice of the arrival of the shipment, but presume that the "Istria" having sailed on August 21st, I should have some word of its arrival, shortly, and shall advise you thereof.

That our records may be complete, will you be good enough to acknowledge receipt of the draft, and with many thanks for your good offices in the matter, I remain,

Yours very truly,
