Feb. 15, 1894.

Mr. R.U. Johnson,
Acting Sec’y, “The Century Magazine”,
New York.

Dear Sir:

Referring to your circular letter of Feb. 4 in reference to the Newman exhibition, I take pleasure in handing you herein inclosed draft on New York for $5.00, which amount I am pleased to contribute to the expenses of the exhibition. I am in fullest sympathy with the compliment to Mr. Newman and hope good results will follow. I have but one example of his work, and as it is unframed and the time so short, I think it is hardly worth while to send the picture to the exhibition.

Very respectfully yours,
Charles L. Freer
