Gentlemen:

From[[?]] several recent communications in reference to the “Paris Salon” and the large paper edition of Thoreau’s works came during my absence. In reply I beg to say that I shall be in New York the latter part of this month and will then take pleasure in examining the works mentioned. Times are so dull [illegible] do not feel inclined to make many purchases at present.

Yours truly,
Charles L. Freer
