Mr. J. C. Bauer,
26 Frankfort St.,
New York.

Dear Sir:

The first 50 proofs of Mr. Kingsley’s “Springtime” reached me yesterday, bearing the signatures of the painter and engraver. In looking them over I have come to the conclusion, which I think is also that of both Tryon and Kingsley, that the greyer proofs are much the finer. In your future printing, will you not kindly do everything within your power to get the most delicate grey effects. Also, will you kindly mount the proofs hereafter on the whitest of white mounting board possible to obtain. The cream colored board in my opinion detracts very much from the delicacy of the prints.

Yours very truly,
C. L. Freer
